Description
Exploring multicultural cartoons and musical styles with live music performance, this hybrid concert + presentation amplifies the work of underrepresented living animators and spreads cultural awareness of exceptional artists from around the globe. Featured animations include multi-award-winning films like Luminaris by Argentinian animator Juan Pablo Zaramella; Navajo Tales: The Stars by animator Julia Berrio and team; and Under the Endless Sky by Ukranian animator Oleksandra Dzhyhanska.
Optional Workshop Add Ons:
1. In "The Sounds and Rhythms in Cartoons" kids explore rhythm and sound effects in this interactive workshop. They build percussion instruments, compose beats, and take home what they create.
2. "Music & Technology" This workshop highlights the music and sound effects in media.

Objectives
Students will be engaged in this multisensory performance. Students will:
-Perceive and analyze artistic work
-Interpret meaning in artistic work
-Apply criteria to evaluate artistic work
-Relate and Synthesize knowledge and personal experience to inspire and inform artistic work
-Investigate ways that artistic work is influenced by societal, cultural and historical context and, in turn, how artistic ideas shape cultures past, present and future.
-Introduce students to like minded creators in other culture and parts of the world

• Set Up: 1 hour
• Break: 5-15 minutes
• Strike: 30-45 minutes
• Program Space: Enough room for 4-5 musicians to perform, including drums. Enough room for a projector and projector screen
• Electricity/Wi-Fi: Access to power
• Audiovisual/Tech: Our cartoon projections are being run from our laptop with an hdmi cable and a separate audio cable (that stays in the performance area). A quick phone call (~1 week before the performance) to go over the A/V situation is ideal.
• Outside Possible: It is possible to perform outside but not optimal because the screen will not be very bright.
• Venue-Provided Supplies: We prefer to use the school's installed audio/video setup when possible - including projector screen, projector, sound system, and talking microphone. We are capable of bringing a projector, and sound system if need be.
