Testimonial
"Having the opportunity to work with AFLCT has been truly beneficial; they've provided unique experiences that have positively impacted our students. Their professional artists are strong role-models who encouraged students to take risks, find their voices, and be confident young people. They assisted in the process of inspiring our students to discover their individual identities and be able to self-assuredly express and share their ideas and opinions."
Description
A charming tale which appeals especially to younger children, Sleeping Beauty begins in King Felix?s great hall where guests from across the land have gathered to celebrate the birth of Princess Aurora. In this retelling, a painted story book opens to reveal each scene. Beautifully hand-crafted marionettes are brought to life by a master puppeteer as the dramatic events unfold.
Objectives
• to introduce the audience to a variety of puppetry styles, as well as elements of stagecraft commonly found in larger-scale theatrical productions
• to show the audience the mechanics of marionette manipulation by allowing the puppeteers to remain in full view throughout the performance
• to spark interest in and generate further exploration of storytelling through puppetry
