Teaching Artist Legacy Statement

My art program is an inclusive space, emphasizing the appreciation of arts, respect for diverse cultures, enhancement of self-esteem, and development of interpersonal skills. I aim to foster a sense of self-awareness in students and use the body as a dynamic medium for communication and expression. Although my primary art form is the Indian classical dance form, "Kathak," I also bring my experience in poetry and visual arts to the classroom. I conduct residency in schools or perform Kathak dance, ensuring that all students feel included and valued.

Testimonials

We had students who made personal connections to the information shared during this event. We even had students dancing out the door. Both students and adults learned a lot and enjoyed the event.

Description

Dance is the most dynamic art form where students learn to see their bodies as a vehicle to express themselves. Through their bodies, they paint the picture of life and learn to connect with others and themselves while engaging in solo and group activities.
