Testimonial

"Having the opportunity to work with AFLCT has been truly beneficial; they've provided unique experiences that have positively impacted our students. Their professional artists are strong role-models who encouraged students to take risks, find their voices, and be confident young people. They assisted in the process of inspiring our students to discover their individual identities and be able to self-assuredly express and share their ideas and opinions."

Description

Billy B. uses science, humor, music, dance, audience participation, and virtual green screen to introduce the wonder of our earth’s biodiversity, why it is declining, and how we can help to protect it. Billy B. hopes to educate people of all ages about biodiversity by introducing, with upbeat song & dance, issues such as pollution, deforestation, and overfishing and how other human behaviors affect the biodiversity of our earth. This show was commissioned by the World Wildlife Fund as a complement to the traveling exhibit entitled Biodiversity 911.

Objectives

Students will develop an appreciation for the wonderful variety of life on earth as they discover the many facets of biodiversity; food chains, symbiotic relationships in nature, the importance of bees, flowers and pollination.

Students in grades 3 and above will extend their journey into biodiversity by exploring how it is affected by human behavior.

Technical Specifications

For the live show - Billy brings his own sound system and theatrical backdrop, with the accompanying support system. What Billy needs is an electrical outlet that is appropriately placed for the performance. If the outlet is a good distance from the performance location an extension chord should be provided by the host. Also, room temperature drinking water should be provided. Also, whatever stage lighting is available will be used and Billy asks that the person who understands the lighting system be made available.
