Description

Tom Lee presents an in-depth, engaging retelling of Ancient Greek Mythology, connecting the stories to their primary sources in Ancient Greek. Drawn from poetry, epic, and theater, the stories connect, intersect, and reflect each other. Gods, heroes, monsters, and spirits of the natural world struggle in some of the greatest, strangest, and most memorable stories ever told.

Objectives

Students will hear a wide range of authentic Classical Greek Mythology based on primary sources.

Students will gain an understanding of how Classical Mythology was created and circulated in the ancient world. Students will view images from museums around the world showing papyrus fragments, statuary, and pottery that retell variations of the great myths.

Students will be introduced to Ancient Greek as a language system and hear selections of epic poetry in Ancient Greek.
