"Thank you again for being part of our department professional development day. You inspired many of the staff members. I received a lot of great feedback! The staff was so happy to do something hands on and interactive. I look forward to working with you more in the future."

Description
We take students on a multicultural, musical journey, playing traditional songs from around the globe, creating our own rhythms, dancing and taking turns leading. Possible themes connect music to SEL, math, literacy and science of sound. Students experience many positive life skills including leadership, teamwork, cooperation, listening and communication skills as well as musical and cultural awareness. Prefessional development for teachers and staff gives teachers simple strategies for incorporating music and movement into the classroom to engage students in learning different subjects.
Objectives
Students will:
* Always experience hands on, multicultural music and movement
* SEL: Improve positive life skills like leadership, cooperation & listening through music play
* Music & Math: Learn how musicians use counting and rhythmic math patterns
* Literacy: Write a song and put it to a beat. Students are prompted to discuss what they love about school and what they are learning and we turn it into a song, played on drums.
* Science of Sound: Experiment with a huge collection of musical instruments from around the world to learn how different materials, force and vibration create sound.
