Testimonial

Having the opportunity to work with AFLCT has been truly beneficial; they've provided unique experiences that have positively impacted our students. Their professional artists are strong role-models who encouraged students to take risks, find their voices, and be confident young people. They assisted in the process of inspiring our students to discover their individual identities and be able to self-assuredly express and share their ideas and opinions.

Description

In late 2021, the U.S. Surgeon General warned the country of an ongoing youth mental health crisis. In this program, Will Parker shares songs and stories about his own mental health journey. As he shares his journey, he discusses the importance of asking for help and not trying to navigate everything on your own when confronted with mental health issues. The program aims to instill within participants the knowledge that there is always hope, even for the most hopeless situation. After the presentation, there is an optional Q&A session where Will engages the students in a discussion about mental health.

Objectives

This program aims to
1. Normalize mental health conversations, lessen the stigma, and help students to know it is ok and important to talk and share about mental health challenges
2. Give students language and skills to navigate mental health related situations
3. Help students who may be struggling to feel less alone.
