Description

From Native American Animal Trickster Tales, African Folktales to Greek and world mythology, Leslie Elias (2018) Connecticut Arts Hero engages her audience on a magical journey full of heroes, fools, tricksters, dragons, gods, goddesses and our never- ending imaginations! Into the mix are masks, myths, rhythms, chants, dance, song and improvisational movement that gets her audience participants up on their feet and fully engaged! With her Native American flute, drum, and years of experience as an actress and director, Leslie inspires joy and interactive teamwork in timely environmental and multi-cultural stories filled with compassion, bravery, anti-bullying and healing messages.

Objectives

1. Students will learn Dramatic Skills & techniques such as vocal projection, character portrayal and learning how to improvise
2. Improving self- esteem through engaging in creative play
3. Developing Teamwork through group drama exercises, games and story enactment
4. Exposure to various world cultures through multi-cultural storytelling
5. Participants will gain a fun, non-threatening hands on arts experience where everyone is encouraged to contribute and take part

Technical Specifications

• Program Space: Room should be properly cleared with desks pushed back for a workshop.
• Mobility/Location Needs: A flatbed cart to move props, masks, costumes and simple scenery.
