Testimonial

"... I truly appreciate your work and admire the way you interact with the kids. The amount of effort you put into learning the topic and making it relevant to what we were doing in class was clearly evident and impressive ... my students were truly engaged and learning. I can't wait to work with you again and I will be recommending you to everyone I can."
-Stephen Gould, 5th Grade Teacher, Environmental Sciences Magnet School at Mary Hooker

Description

The Music, Bubble and Comedy Show is a high-energy show about why reading rocks! The show engages children with songs, comedy, bubbles, music technology and is crafted to be inclusive for children of all abilities including children on the Autism Spectrum. Each song in the 40-minute show is accompanied by hands-on, visual, and sensory experiences designed to help kids learn and have fun at the same time. We also promote inclusion and neurodiversity in our performance. We teach children of all abilities about what autism is and feature original children’s books created by adult authors and illustrators with autism.

Objectives

Reading Rocks: The Music, Bubble and Comedy Show will help students learn about autism awareness and inclusion. Students will be able to visualize phonemes and phonics in a fun, active way, by incorporating movement and rhythm to appeal to the visual, aural, and kinesthetic learners.

Student outcomes include:
-I can use interactive music technology to create work with students who have no language.
-I can participate and get on stage in front of my peers and include my peers with unique developmental differences and unique strengths and interests.
-I can celebrate autism awareness and learn about successful individuals who are on the autism spectrum.
