Description
In this multi-day, multi-sensory residency, students will learn a simple, accessible method for recording their daily observations in words and in illustrations. This program aligns with science units, nature observation studies, and community engagement units. It leaves students with an open-ended but guided rubric for mindful, artful appreciation of the environment and for personal, contemplative assessments of singular and communal experiences.
Objectives
The goal is for each student to develop a lifelong habit of observing the world and processing and recording the value and importance of the experience in vivid and memorable ways. Curriculum alignments include language arts content standards for expository writing and personal narrative across grade levels, Next Generation science standards across grade levels, and visual arts standards across grade levels.
