Testimonial

"Having the opportunity to work with AFLCT has been truly beneficial; they've provided unique experiences that have positively impacted our students. Their professional artists are strong role-models who encouraged students to take risks, find their voices, and be confident young people. They assisted in the process of inspiring our students to discover their individual identities and be able to self-assuredly express and share their ideas and opinions."

Description

Featuring over twenty beautifully hand-crafted marionettes, The Fairy Circus is a showcase for turn-of-the-century-style trick puppetry. The puppets will dance, play instruments, juggle, contort, transform, and fly through the air with the greatest of ease, all to the toe-tapping, hand-clapping melodies of jazz and classical music. A feast for the eyes and ears, this title is perfect for younger children and family audiences.

Objectives

• to introduce the audience to a variety of puppetry styles, as well as elements of stagecraft commonly found in larger-scale theatrical productions
• to expose the audience to the mechanics of marionette manipulation by allowing the puppeteer to remain in full view throughout the performance
• to demonstrate the creative problem-solving and engineering involved in the design and operation of trick marionettes
