Description
The harp, known as the Queen of the instrument world, was invented over 5,000 years ago and soon spread to cultures all around the globe. Wendy explores the amazing history of the harp, the varied types of music it can play, the stories it can tell, and the science of how the harp creates music. The program includes numerous opportunities for student participation.
Objectives
1) To foster an appreciation for music and playing an instrument
2) To increase the listening pleasure of music by exploring the many components, moods, stories and other aspects inherent in music
3) To explore the science of sound and music
4) To show students how music can be a pathway to explore emotions
5) To show what it is like to be an artist today.

Technical Specifications
• Set Up: 1 hour
• Break: 10 minute minimum, 20 minute maximum
• Strike: 30 minutes
• Program Space: Clean, well lit performing area.
• Electricity/Wi-Fi: Access to electrical power or extension cord to performance area if there is not a 3 prong outlet in the performance area.
• Audiovisual/Tech: Help from a person familiar with the stage lighting system, if applicable. Please communicate with Wendy beforehand regarding availability of speaker, microphone and visual projection equipment.
• Tables/Chairs: 1 small table, 1 chair
• Outside Possible: No
• Mobility/Location Needs: If there is a flight of stairs, assistance carrying the harp - 2 strong gentlemen or teenagers. A space accessible without stairs is preferable.
• Other: A bottle of water is nice.
