Testimonial

"Our students were enthralled and learned so much. We can't wait to have Anne and Keith back again!"

Lorri Carrol, Hamden Hall Elementary

Description

The Revolutionary Deborah Sampson is better known as the story of the "Secret Soldier," the American Revolution's only acknowledged female combat veteran. A descendant of William Bradford and Miles Standish, Deborah Sampson spent her childhood in poverty and was sold into indentured servitude. Anne Pasquale and her accompanist bring this story to life through interactive reenactments and storytelling. Students will understand the plight of the colonies and the need for revolution through the eyes of this extraordinary young woman. Folk music, stage combat and join-in-reenactments highlight this program.

Objectives

1. To have students gain a deeper understanding of the Pilgrims' original relationship to Great Britain and The New World.

2. To expose students to the lifestyle of the colonists and the events that led to the Revolutionary War.
