Description
Listening to stories activates the visual areas of our brains - the "mind's eye" is a very powerful writing tool. This writing-based residency employs the strategies of Visual Literacy Tom Lee has developed in partnership with The Yale Center for British Art. Students engage with a variety of stories and images, responding to lively and engaging open-ended questions to explore their thinking.
Objectives
Students will learn to look in detail at images of artwork and respond with detailed, nuanced, and personalized writing.
Students will engage in conversations using high-level thinking skills. Students will make inferences and support them with evidence. Students will listen thoughtfully to the observations and opinions of others. Rich vocabulary and verbal fluency will be developed.
