Testimonial
Having the opportunity to work with AFLCT has been truly beneficial; they've provided unique experiences that have positively impacted our students. Their professional artists are strong role-models who encouraged students to take risks, find their voices, and be confident young people. They assisted in the process of inspiring our students to discover their individual identities and be able to self-assuredly express and share their ideas and opinions.
Description
Each person has a unique perspective on everything we look at, but it’s easy to forget that not everyone sees the world the same way we do. In this powerful community-building photography event, each student explores a variety of photographic perspectives and techniques and works with their classmates to create a unique collage incorporating their different views.
The program takes place in two sessions at least two days apart – the first visit involves taking the photographs, which are then printed for the second visit when the students create the collages and a personal work of art. An optional third visit includes storytelling related to the personal work of art and collective storytelling as a group.
The program is scalable and can be done with one classroom or with a whole school and is appropriate for all ages and abilities. For example, students who are unable to operate a camera may be asked to look in the direction of what they would like to photograph and photos are taken from their points of view.
Please note this program requires 2 sessions.
