Testimonial

"I attended his class entitled “Each One, Teach One” at Sea Tea Comedy Theater in Hartford. I retired four years ago as the Chief Financial Officer with no prior experience or training in the performing arts. I came to Rob’s class with only the expectation that I would try – at least once – to get on stage as a standup comedian. I have since written and published four books and been on-stage as an actor, improv performer, standup comedian, and personal storyteller."
-Jack Levine

Description

This stand-up comedy workshop helps students turn emotion into art — and honesty into laughter.

Led by comedian and teaching artist Rob Santos, students explore what they love, what they hate, and what truly gets under their skin. Then, using reflection-based prompts rooted in SEL and DBT practices, Rob helps them dig deeper — to find the truth behind their feelings.

The result? Students write and “perform their thoughts” as short comedic monologues, jokes, or emotional reflections. It’s a brave space where humor becomes a tool for healing, vulnerability becomes a strength, and students begin to see one another more clearly.

Objectives

• Identify and articulate emotions using personal experience
• Turn emotional truths into expressive content (jokes, rants, stories, etc.)
• Use humor as a tool for emotional regulation and perspective-taking
• Practice vulnerability in a safe, supportive environment
• Develop empathy and active listening through peer storytelling
• Build confidence in public speaking and self-expression
• Strengthen self-awareness, social awareness, and relationship skills
• Apply DBT and SEL principles in a creative, performance-based setting
