Testimonial
Having the opportunity to work with AFLCT has been truly beneficial; they've provided unique experiences that have positively impacted our students. Their professional artists are strong role-models who encouraged students to take risks, find their voices, and be confident young people. They assisted in the process of inspiring our students to discover their individual identities and be able to self-assuredly express and share their ideas and opinions.
Description
Students put a contemporary spin on collage by combining pre-printed photographic images with hand-drawn symbols, patterns, and personal imagery. Using paint pens and a guided planning process, students explore visual symbolism and make intentional design choices before adding their own creative layers to a chosen image.
The workshop can be offered as an all-paper experience using printed cardstock and drawing materials, or as a mixed-media hybrid, incorporating iPads to explore digital collage techniques alongside hands-on artmaking. Both formats encourage experimentation, creative decision-making, and individual expression while introducing students to new ways of transforming and reimagining existing images.
