Testimonial

Having the opportunity to work with AFLCT has been truly beneficial; they've provided unique experiences that have positively impacted our students. Their professional artists are strong role-models who encouraged students to take risks, find their voices, and be confident young people. They assisted in the process of inspiring our students to discover their individual identities and be able to self-assuredly express and share their ideas and opinions.

Description

A hands-on, collaborative session where students co-write an original song from scratch. Students explore song structure, rhyme schemes, and thematic development. Charlie guides the group through brainstorming concepts, crafting lyrics, and setting text to melody. By the end of the 90 minutes, the class will have created and performed their own unique song.

Objectives

Master Song Structure: Identify and apply standard song architecture, including verses, choruses, bridges, and hooks.

Apply Creative Writing Skills: Use sensory details, rhyme schemes, and metaphors to translate personal or shared ideas into structured lyrics.

Collaborative Creation: Practice group brainstorming, constructive feedback, and combining text with rhythm and melody to complete a finished song.
