Teaching Artist Legacy Statement

I am first and foremost an educator. My programs are based on one simple principle: KIDS LEARN by DOING, so in my interactive adventures it is the KIDS that are the stars of the show. And not just a FEW kids - Everyone has a role to play in which they feel successful and empowered. And have FUN. After many school arts enrichment programs, kids tell their parents, "Today I met a great artist." After my programs, kids say, "Today I WAS a great artist."

Testimonials

"I highly recommend Jason Edwards' StoryCrafting program as a very effective presentation which not only educates students about the essential elements of a story, but motivates them to write and read on their own. Mr. Edwards possesses the rare quality of being able to connect with students of various ages and abilities and elicit participation from each child. His program created an excitement for writing and reading in even our most reluctant students."

"My son attended your workshop last year and LOVED it. He still talks about the creatures he created. Thank you again!"

Description

In my History Mystery Library Adventure, I incorporate discovering and utilizing information about history, identification of historical artifacts, landmarks, and figures, plus archaeological investigation and problem solving methods into an exciting quest to search for a lost treasure. Additionally, to locate clues leading to the treasure, participants learn/practice/utilize library research skills to track down the hidden clues.
