Teaching Artist Legacy Statement
I encourage self expression through painting and poetry. We tell stories, explore topics of social justice, environmental justice, personal history and internal reflection. Students learn the importance of preserving historical places in their communities. Reflection and sharing are encouraged developmental skills.

Description
Shanna is a certified Kingian Nonviolence Practitioner teaching the Six Principles of Nonviolence created by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. She also worked as an Ambassador for The Mary & Eliza Center for History and Community. Her lessons weave both histories into cultural conversations and writing where students can research and explore their perspective on social justice and cultural celebration.
