Teaching Artist Legacy Statement

In my Young at Art® groups I always begin with the dramatic reading of a story that will inspire the children to be creative. We follow up with choice-based activities that provide opportunities to create, making use of their each child's interest, ability and experience. It is my opinion that early art becomes the foundation of all education.. Though visual learning, students better understand themselves, math concepts, multi-cultural characteristics, and their own emotions. ART-rithmetic® is the program that I created to teach math thru art.

Description

Self expression through art. Creating art makes it possible to express ourselves in ways that nothing else can. It gives us the way to deal with emotions and experiences not easily expressed in words. Making a work of art can take a problem, worry, joy or painful memory out of our heads and put it into the art, helping us process and understand it.
