Description

Traditional storytelling fosters literacy by enhancing narrative comprehension, critical thinking, and cultural awareness. Orality develops listening skills, builds vocabulary and understanding of story structure. In discussing stories they have heard students cultivate interpretive skills, in particular expressing opinions and supporting these with evidence drawn from the text.
