Description
Autism Drum Buddies (ADB) enriches autistic students in prekindergarten-4 to grade five by partnering one-on-one with a neurotypical Buddy in melodic, sensory-friendly, relaxed, interactive drumming activities.
It augments social integration, emotional regulation, coordination and motor skills, creativity, and agility for communication.
ADB gives rise to confidence and favorable self-image.
Bob incorporates methods that emphasize autistic students’ strengths such as leadership qualities and musical talent.
Students, educators, and professional providers join with Bob to play repetitive, drumming patterns in a comfortable play-along with joyous songs that have cool beats, endearing melodies, uplifting harmonies, smooth rhythms, and lyrics in English, Spanish, and Yoruba.
Adult family members and caregivers can be invited to attend and to participate so that they will take away ideas and skills for participatory music-making at home.
