Rebeca Tomas has been described as "awesomely fiery" (New York Times), "masterful" (Eva YaaAsentawaa), and "a postcard image of the feminine Flamenco dancer" (Kansas City Metropolis). She is the artistic director and choreographer of A Palo Seco Flamenco Company, which she founded in 2010 after performing throughout the U.S. (Flamenco Vivo, Noche Flamenca). For her choreography, Tomas has received support from Arts Westchester, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, and CT Office of the Arts.
"Rebecca has the ability to teach at a very high level even to the littlest students. Under her guidance, the campers learned a tremendous amount about flamenco dance – the steps, the music, the rhythms and a bit of the history -all while they're having fun. Her cheerful demeanor and finely tuned instructions make her a clear, easily understandable and affective teacher. I can still hear the echoes of the rhythms she had campers clapping months later."
