Teaching Artist Legacy Statement
I believe that people engage, learn and retain curricula, when they participate in it. As a theater artist, I have developed dozens of strategies to help students mobilize, personify and act out the curriculum. They become part of it, gain ownership of it, and remember it. I do this in an organized fashion using structured games and plans that are designed specifically for each residency group. With so many lessons I wrote "Learning on their Feet, A Sourcebook for Kinesthetic Learning Across the Curriculum K-8". A glorious side effect: Working together promotes individual self-esteem and group cooperation.
